Q: Tell us a bit about yourself. Where are you from? What brought you to Ohio?
M: I am from New Martinsville, West Virginia. I came to Ohio because of an employment opportunity with ComDoc—a division of Xerox.
Q: Do you have a favorite story from your time at Fireproof?
M: My favorite story from my time at Fireproof—my whole five and a half months—would probably be learning that almost everybody that I’ve met here has worked with the company for at least 10 years. It was very unexpected—especially because it wasn’t just management, there were employees across the entire organization that had 15-plus years at Fireproof. That really says something about the culture and the opportunity.
Q: What are some things that interest you? (Hobbies/Things you like to do)
M: I like to hunt, fish and boat—anything outdoors. I also have season tickets to watch West Virginia football. I’m a big Fan; I drive there for every single game— my wife thinks I’m crazy!
Q: What was the most unusual job you had before working at Fireproof?
M: I was in the U.S. Navy for four and a half years. I was an Operations Specialist and I also worked in the Search and Rescue Team.
Q: What is one skill you would like to master?
M: I would like to master fly-fishing. I’ve tried it a couple times but I don’t have too much patience for that. Maybe I’ll try again one day—when I have more patience.
Q: What is one thing you do differently than most people?
M: I wake up in the morning with an extreme fear of failure; it’s a motivator for me—or a curse.
Q: What is your favorite sport?
M: During the season, you will find me watching football. But I really like to play baseball.
Q; What is one thing that most people don’t know about you?
M: I am very impatient, which does help with my profession in sales!
Q; What is your favorite part about your job?
M: My favorite part of my job is seeing our hard work relate to success. What I mean by that is… putting in the hours to be successful in sales and how that leads to success—how it comes to fruition.
Q: What is one thing everyone should know about Fireproof?
M: The company’s dedication to its employees and to its customers, the passion that our employees have to make our customers happy, and how we are unique in all the services that we offer to our customers. I think we are well positioned for long-term success.
Q: Are you currently reading? Which is your favorite book?
M: I’m currently reading Hillbilly Elegy by J. D. Vance, and my favorite book so far is Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell.
Q: If you could have a drink with anyone, who would it be?
M: I would say, Chuck Noll—he was the head coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers when they won four out of six Superbowls. He was very serious, stoic and quiet, but also very successful. I would just like to know what made him tick.
